The Board of Trustees at Amelia Island Montessori School works with the Head of School to uphold the institution's mission and strategic goals.


Their responsibilities include providing strategic leadership, overseeing financial management, and leading fundraising efforts, all in alignment with the standards set by the American Montessori Society (AMS) and the Florida Council of Independent Schools (FCIS).

Board Mission


The Board of Trustees is a group of volunteers, who work together with the Head of School, to preserve the mission, vision and strategic goals of Amelia Island Montessori School. They ensure the viability and vitality of the school for the education of present and future generations of students, consistent with the standards recognized by the American Montessori Society (AMS) and the Florida Council of Independent Schools (FCIS).

Board Function


The Board of Trustees preserves and protects the health and well-being of the school by providing strategic leadership and governance in accordance with the mission and bylaws of AIMS. In so doing, the Board is involved in long-term decisions, oversees financial management including establishing and reviewing the annual budget, hires/reviews/retains a qualified Head of School, and leads the school in major fundraising efforts to ensure an excellent Montessori education for the current and future children of AIMS. The Board is not involved in the daily operations of AIMS, nor is it involved in admissions, placement decisions, personnel considerations or other day-to-day matters.
