Amelia Island Montessori School

Frequently Asked Questions

Here are the questions we hear most often about the admission process.

  • Can I drop by at any time for a school tour?

Due to the high interest in our program, tours are held in the mornings by appointment. We are happy to answer general questions on the phone or by email. You may also schedule a tour online.

  • Who should attend the school tour?

Both parents (if applicable & possible). The initial tour is for adults only; your child will have an opportunity to visit the classroom and the teacher at a later date.

  • Is there a waiting pool?

Typically yes, depending on the program.

  • How far in advance may I submit an application?

Parents are encouraged to apply as early as possible. Submitting an application is what enters a child into the waiting pool.

  • May I request a specific classroom/teacher?

Creating balance in our Montessori classrooms is a critical piece of the puzzle and a multi-layered process. Whenever there is an opening, we place each new student with careful consideration. While you may request a specific teacher or classroom, we cannot guarantee placement.

Please note: in order to encourage independence, our school's policy is to offer separate, individualized experiences for siblings whenever applicable.

  • What are the factors that determine my child’s placement?

Depending on the openings that are available, our goal is to balance the classrooms by age and gender of the children.

Please note: in order to encourage independence, our school's policy is to offer separate, individualized experiences for siblings whenever applicable.

  • Is there a sibling discount?
