We look forward to meeting you, sharing our campus and the Montessori Philosophy. AIMS sees the admissions process as an opportunity for both families and the school to learn about each other. Children are enrolled without regard to racial, religious, national or ethnic background. Based on openings in the programs, we accept applications and enroll students throughout the year.
STEP 1: Parent Meeting and School Tour
The first step in our admissions process is to make an appointment for a parent meeting and school tour. At this time, we can learn about your child, share information about the Montessori methods and principles, show you our environments, and help both parties determine if AIMS is a place where your child will thrive. We require that at least one parent observe a class in session.
STEP 2: Submit Application
Complete an Application for Admission Form and submit a one-time, non-refundable Registration Fee of $50. Families must have completed an application and paid this fee in order for the process to progress (even if there is a waiting pool for the appropriate class.)
STEP 3: Placement
The Head of School and the directress (head teacher) will determine placement. (Parent requests are taken into consideration but cannot always be fulfilled.) The directress will be in contact to schedule an interview for your child as appropriate. Your child will be invited by a teacher to visit a classroom for about 30 minutes. During the visit, the teacher will interact with your child, teach a lesson, and carefully observe your child.
STEP 4: Admission
Upon admission, parents must complete Student Record forms and AIMS contract. Return to administration with necessary fees prior to actual school attendance. All children age five and older must have current immunization records on file at the school.
Waiting List: If there is not an immediate opening for a new student or if a young child is not quite ready to start school his/her name is added to our waiting list. First priority is given to siblings of children already enrolled, staff children, and then to transferring children with prior Montessori experience.
Enrollment requirements: All enrollments are conditional for the first six weeks a child attends AIMS. Should the school become concerned that the placement is not in the best interest of the child or the classroom, conferences will be held with the Head of School, the parents and the teacher. If the concern continues, the enrollment may be terminated. Tuition (less the registration deposit) will be prorated, and may be refunded at the sole discretion of AIMS.
