43 Years Strong
Amelia Island Montessori School opened in September 1973 after an inspired and hard-working group of parents, strongly supported by the then newly developed Amelia Island Plantation, decided they wanted a Montessori education for their children.
Forty-three years later, Amelia Island Montessori School has educated more than 1,000 children in the Montessori method and continues its mission to develop critical thinkers of today and tomorrow. Our standardized test results have demonstrated that AIMS children not only perform exceptionally well overall, they rank above average on such criteria as problem solving, adapting to new situations, using their skills and showing responsibility. The curriculum encourages independence and innovative thinking through providing choices and freedom within structure and guidelines. Our students will be confident citizens of the world, fostering global awareness, kindness and compassion.
We celebrated our 40th 'ruby' anniversary with a celebration inspired by the ruby. Ancients thought the ruby's glowing red color was due to an inextinguishable inner fire. For more than four decades, our mission has been to nurture every child's unique inner fire, always fostering a lifelong love for learning .
